I’m Dixon from Hong Kong. Over the past 2 years, through IG i’ve met a lot of very talented creators and there was a lot to learn from them. IG has been one of my inspirations as there are always new angles, perspectives and ideas you can find. Now photography has become a passion and I enjoy exploring new places and shoot. During the past year as we couldn’t travel I have explored places in HK that I would not have explored. Rediscovering the beauty of HK is actually quite exciting.

Whose work has influenced you most? (Instagram @)

Blowithand, Demas, YK, Mikemikecat, Edwardkb etc.

What is the most rewarding part of being a photographer for you?

I guess one of the most rewarding part for me so far is being able to print your work out. Something about touching a tangible print of your own photo, is a different experience . Especially when you get to sell your first print, it felt rewarding.

How do you educate yourself to take better images?

Learn from other people. Steal, but not copy. You can apply an idea, in a different scenario but not exactly copy others work . More importantly is to just shoot, all the time. That’s how you find your own style, then you know what works and not work for you.

Are there any tips you can give to new photographers?

On social media, it’s so easy to get hooked into numbers. But it’s important to know the reason behind taking photos. Is it for numbers? or is it for a hobby? or is it a future profession? If it’s just numbers it could be unsustainable. The IG algorithm is constantly changing, likes, followers are never guaranteed. It’s so easy to get upset or you measure your quality of work by the number of likes. You should not judge other people by follower numbers instead of their work. Shoot because you like the act of it, because it’s rewarding to see your own work, that it’s something you like, rather than what you think others like.

What is/are your fav feature(s) of Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 CF APO? why?

Focal length. 50mm Full frame equivalent. Is a great prime lens focal length. Not too tight, not too wide. They say it’s the closest focal length to human eye, so it’s one of the most flattering look to your photos.

F0.95, allows you to shoot at low ISO in low light. Also producing bokeh when shooting closer subjects.
